ManChingKC (Chinese: 程文遠 Man Yuen-Ching) Born in Hong Kong. A photography artist who debuted in the 90s, ManChingKC currently lives in the UK. His early work appeared in major media magazines, including ad production, fashion, portrait photography, street photography, and reportage photography. Cooperative customers are large institutions and well-known brands. He began photographing the streets in the 1990s and still walks the streets today, capturing his unique images and sensual landscape photographs. He pays special attention to the relationship between light and shadow, the lines produced by the combination of light and shadow, through subtle and careful observation, manipulating these two elements to reflect this relationship, usually the expression of surrealism and mysticism. He believes that photography is an artistic creation that captures realistic photos.
ManChingKC said: “Sometimes photography is a way for me to reflect on life. When I look through the small rectangular space of my viewfinder, the world seems very quiet and still. This space suddenly becomes very vast. Not only does it allow me to discover many possibilities, but it also gives me happy moments when I indulge myself with some peaceful thinking.”
ManChingKC’s photography revolves around the human experience, capturing the essence of urban life, cultural identity, and personal stories. His work serves as both a vivid record of the present and an artistic reflection of the world around him. With a strong narrative quality, his images weave compelling stories, whether through dynamic street scenes or expressive portraits.
He masterfully documents cultural nuances from Hong Kong and across the world, offering deep insights into social change and cultural integration. His photography strikes a harmonious balance between artistic expression and documentary authenticity, combining visual beauty with truthfulness. Encompassing street photography, fashion, travel, and landscapes, his versatile portfolio highlights his remarkable range.
ManChingKC’s attention to detail shines through in his ability to capture fleeting moments and subtle intricacies of life. He employs color to amplify emotion and black-and-white to accentuate form and texture, delivering distinct visual experiences. His work often conveys a profound concern for the human condition, thoughtfully engaging with social issues.
Even within the bounds of traditional photography, he explores innovative perspectives and techniques, crafting a distinctive visual language. Rooted in local character yet resonant with a global perspective, his work sparks a dialogue between the regional and the universal. This makes ManChingKC’s photography not only visually stunning but also a rich exploration of culture, society, and human emotion.
