由比ヶ浜海岸-Yuigahama

Yuigahama is a beach located in Kamakura, a city in Kanagawa  Prefecture, Japan. It is situated south of Enoshima Island and is known for its beautiful white sand and stunning sunsets. During the summer months, it is a popular spot for swimming and other water activities.

Yuigahama has a rich cultural and historical significance, as it was once a vacation spot for the powerful Hojo clan during the Kamakura period, a time when the Kamakura shogunate was established. Additionally, the surrounding area is home to numerous temples and shrines, making it a popular tourist destination in Kamakura.

Access to Yuigahama is easy by train or bus. The nearest train station is Yuigahama Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway, and it can also be accessed by bus from Kamakura Station. The beach area is surrounded by many restaurants and souvenir shops, making it a convenient and enjoyable destination for visitors.

Even now, human bones from that time are still found and are unearthed during construction work. General Yoshitsune’s wife and concubine were taken to Kamakura after being captured by General Yoshitsune and sent to Kamakura. Although they gave birth to the son of Yoshitsune, they were rumoured to have been killed. In addition, Chuan Hetian Yisheng also died here (during the Hetian War). In the battle of Kamakura during the Motohiro Rebellion, Nitta Yoshisada broke through Inamurazaki and attacked the beach, which determined the fall of the Shogunate.
